Rocky Mountain Lime USA
History: Like so many other citrus trees, the Lime tree is native to Asia. It became very popular in the 1800's when physicians realized that the fruit is high in vitamin C and had a fairly long shelf life after harvest. English sailors took it on long journeys to prevent scurvy. Limes were eaten so much by the British sailors they were nicknamed "Limeys." The fruit was used interchangeably with Lemons to help prevent infections, sore throats, and fever. It was often used to prevent indigestion.
