Cornmint, as the name suggests, has a minty and fresh aroma, almost the same as Peppermint. Cornmint however is milder and therefore it is more recommended to be used for kids. But as to the medicinal benefits, the two essential oils generally offer the same effects.
Because it smells fresh and clean, Cornmint oil is widely used in hygienic products such as mouthwash, toothpaste, shampoo, and the like. It is very effective also in treating mouth ulcers, inflamed and bleeding gums or gingivitis, and halitosis (bad breath). It may also be taken concomitantly with remedies for digestive problems, gallbladder disorders, and excessive phlegm in the airways.
Cornmint essential oil is commonly used in cases which Peppermint is also used for. It is a perfect alternative to Peppermint and vice versa. Its menthol taste and aroma blends well with benzoin, basil, black pepper, eucalyptus, cypress, geranium, juniper, grapefruit, lavender, marjoram, lemon, naiouli, , ravensara, pine, tea tree, and rosemary.
