The Ravensara tree is a member of the laurel family, and indigenous to Madagascar. It has a reddish bark that is very aromatic, with small green elliptical leaves. It should be noted that Ravensara is not the same as Ravintsera (Cinnamonum camphora), which is from a different species (see Ho Wood Essential Oil). A few drops of can be put in a vaporizer before bed, and a few drops can be added to a hot bath at the first signs of a cold. Two drops can be diluted with a few drops of Coconut Fractionated Oil and massaged into the back of the neck to alleviate tension during flu season. A few drops in a vaporizer or diffuser will be helpful in a sick room. Putting 12 drops in a 2 oz. spray bottle of distilled water will create a gentle pillow spray before bedtime - just shake well before spraying!
